Vance Jensen 5th period The making of a writer While she was teaching a graduate seminar a well-known novelist came into her class. He came to speak on his development as a writer. As she was speaking the novelist was describing her and he did not know that he was describing her. He said that women writers are luckier then those of his sex because they usually spend so much time around their mothers and their mothers around their mothers and friends in the kitchen. The guest wasn’t really being sexist or trying to be provocative or even spoiling for a fight. The writer must be able to say what is on their mind.
I would never go to a seminar and speak to a whole room full of people because I have trouble just speaking to my own family much less speak a lot at all. I would not go and start criticizing another writer because I am not a writer and don’t know what it means to be writer and I would only be embarrassing myself. I enjoy reading somebody elses stories because I enjoy them especially fiction stories. I probably won’t understand what it means to be a writer. All I have ever wrote was a letter or a summary of a story for a class.

The doctor told her that she came down with an ailment and she had to stay home and spend her time in bed. While she spent her time at home she would over hear her parents speaking. She does not ever remember any secrets being revealed to her, she would listen at their door and what they were talking about was no concern of hers. After awhile she started wanting to write stories about other people. I don’t think I would listen at other peoples conversations especially when they are not about me. I don’t like having secrets kept from me especially when they are about me. I would not be able to write stories either because I could never write, but that is alright because I don’t plan on being a writer. I would not like spending all my time at home all day with a heart condition, I would not know what to do for fun.
